30 before 30 (work in progress):

1. Visit a never-before-seen foreign country.

2. Teach the boy to read.

3. Ride a horse. Proper like.

4. Learn a usefully useless talent like cigarette rolling or paan making.

5. Made a Bande a Parte-esque dance video.

6. Start my business.

7. Finish book with my mom. Well, start it and then finish it. But starting the sentence with “finish” makes it seem halfway done, doesn’t it?

8. Buy a decent video camera and learn to do fancy things with it bc the “flip cam” is flopping.

9. Go camping. Rugged like.

10. Learn to pitch a fast ball.

11. Change a flat tire.

12. Play a bad tune on the harmonica.

13. Karaoke.

14. Catalog trainspotting with the boy.

15. Jump off something. Preferably into water.

16. See my hometown bc it won’t happen again for a while.

17. Put my feet in the Atlantic and Pacific.

18. Do storycorps with my father.

19. Take up astronomy for when I finally get away from all the city lights.

20. Learn to make bhaga-khaani.

21. See Mr. President.

22. One last road trip with my beloved car – the steed.

23. Embarrass myself royally on purpose with no regrets.

24. Learn one decent magic trick. Levitating would be nice but pulling a coin from behind the ear may be more realistic.

25. Do a couple decent things for other people a few times a month.

26. Better my Spanish. Teach the boy a language.

27. Jump in a fountain. In the day. In a crowd.

28. Leave kind notes to strangers. On their cars, under their front doors, at the laundromat…

29. Quit the finance gig.

30. Set off to see the world.
