Hi there. I stumbled upon your site while surfing today…Based off your posts it appears you should have started your journey. how is it going so far?
Hello lovely lady + boy. Your photos are beautiful. Powerful writing too.
We have two daughters, 11 and 6, and 4 years ago we moved from anonymous suburbia near my parents to a very small town in the countryside. We have a really good community of friends here – all ages- and our kids do have that freedom that we longed for them to have.
We live in a small yurt in a friend’s orchard. Very warm thanks to a woodburning range, insulated wood floor, and wool insulation in walls and roof. Our outgoings for accommodation are tiny – small amount monthly for the orchard, €1.50 per month on electricity (!), maybe €300 per year on firewood.
It has been amazing and very grounding for us to realise which modern comforts we found essential and which we happily said goodbye to.
I hope you both find a way to the lifestyle you so eloquently describe, or that maybe it finds you!
